This residence was designed for a progressive Muslim family. The highlight of this project is the use of natural stone in its various colours and capacities.

 

Slate stone tiles costing Rs. 10 per square foot (as of 2004) give the entrance verandah a monolithic look.

 

The glass window in the staircase brings in the natural light in various hues and yet gives privacy to this corner house.

 

An internal staircase was added to join the basement to the ground floor.

 

The baithak in the basement is characterised by a multicoloured natural stone (jhalana) fireplace and wall. The chrome yellow floor tiles unify the entire space. The false ceiling houses the air conditioning equipment. The columns and beams were given an interesting touch in antique copper paint.

Even after 14 years, this house remains happily eclectic, loved by its occupants.
